Tokyo-Day 3

Day 3 was eventful but slower than the last few days. I think by this time, our backs and legs accepted the abuse and it wasn't so painful to walk. Either that, or our legs just went numb. The weather wasn't as bad from what i remember, but it was still very cold for my taste. So we went to the Ghibli museum and two shopping areas afterwards, Shinjuku and Harajuku. For those that have never heard of the Ghibli, it's a museum with Hayao Miyazaki's work. I looove the movie Totoro and Castle in the sky so this was a real treat. Anyways, here are the pictures.

We took the train to lidabashi station but was one stop too early. So we ended up walking for a good 30 minutes to get to Tokyo Dome.

We were a bit hungry so we forgot to take pictures of our meal again....(-_-)

Tokyo Day 2- February 17, 2011 (thursday)

Moving onto Day 2! We decided to wake up early and go to Disney sea. They have disneyland in LA so we figured we go to Disney Sea since it's only in Tokyo. I found out a while back that Gilbert has never been to the happiest place on earth, so it was pretty much a priority. He probably would never admit it but i could tell he was pretty damn excited when we stepped foot on the Disney premises. I am actually not a huge fan of any kind of roller coaster so i forced myself to be a decent date. We left the hotel at around 830 after our continental breakfast. I must say the hotel's breakfast was delicious...too bad we didn't take pictures of it. We got to Disney sea at around 9:00am. We rode most of the rides; raging spirits, storm rider (4D theatre), 20 thousand leagues under the sea, temple of the crystal skull, journey to the center of the earth. We ate at the American waterfront ss columbia ship. I dragged Gilbert to the mermaid lagoon before we went on the 'Journey to the center of the earth 'ride. I believe we spent most of our day their....we didn't make it to the tower of terror because the line was super long. We went shopping and left disney land at 530ish.

After Disneyland, we decided to go to Shibuya to find the statue of the dog hachiko and walk the famous crosswalk.

Now onto the pictures:

So we thought we could beat the crowd by showing up early.......this was the line to get in....it was around 930am on a THURSDAY morning. Why the heck was there so many people!? So they opened at 10am and it was like a madhouse. People were actually running (including us) to get to the rides. Gilbert was on a mission to get all the fast passes for the good rides.

Tokyo day 1-Feb 16 2011

Hello readers. Okay let me begin blogging about the Tokyo trip. This will be day one....my memory of the trip is already kind of foggy so i will try my best to dig into my guppy brain and remember what we did on the trip. Tokyo in 5 days was like cramming last minute for a big exam. I don't know if that's a good metaphor...hahaha. Basically we covered most of Tokyo in a span of less than 5 days which would of been better if we had maybe 3 weeks. So whoever decides to go, i suggest you take your time on your trip and bring a foldable chair. Sorry if the pictures are not perfect, but they will do. Mad props to Gilbert who took 98% of the pictures. My lazy ass didn't want to lug around the big camera.

So day one we covered:
-Hotel
-Akihabara (electric town)
-Sushi
-Tokyo tower
-Roppongi
-yakitori

First stop! Akihabara aka electric town. So basically Electric town has tons of places to shop for electronics. There is this one store that had 7 or more floors with JUST electronic goodies. It was amazing. One floor was just for cell phones, one for TVs, one for DVDs, one for music, etc etc. Each floor was basically dedicated to a certain electronic item. It was great.

Sooo Mike D and Bryan wanted pictures of the women in Japan, so you guys will get to see some ninja'd pictures of girls. Fail on not having the big 70-200 pedo lens. haha.

I think at this point we were lost....so we loitered for a bit until we decided to go to Tokyo tower.

We went up the tower. The main observatory is at 145 meters. We went up the special observatory (extra fee of 600yen per person) which was 250meters.

Hard to take pictures with all the glare from the window...but here are a few good ones we got! Good job Gilbert.

I would say this city never sleeps. The view was so impressive.

After all that, we felt hungry so we walked all the way to Roppongi to find some food.

I don't remember what he was looking at..

After much walking we finally found this shopping building. We saw that they had this yakitori place so we went in..We ordered a whole bunch of different things which included: chicken butt, pork, wasabi chicken, grilled avocado, and manta ray, rice ball...and some other things...that i can't remember.

Gilbert says this was the chicken wing with wasabi...i really don't remember what i took pictures of..

Pork? i dunno. Well it really doesn't matter because our experience at this restaurant was not that great. We waited 3 hours for our food, but i guess we couldn't really blame them since they probably space your order out so you order drinks too...which we didn't do since we both are alcohol intolerant. lol.

That pretty much concludes day 1. What a day it was...

Havn't written in this thing in forever....our journey is coming to an end soon. We found out today that we are leaving the island the 21st of this month. I am soooooooo stoked, but at the same time a little scared about the future. As much as i want to leave this place, this island will always be the place where we built our marriage and created a home together. It's been a great 2.5 years i say..

Well anyways...i have a lot of pictures to upload but i probably won't do it on this post...this post i guess is just a guideline to help me remember what i need to put up and what you guys should expect in the upcoming posts.

So in February, Gilbert treated me to a trip to Tokyo for my birthday. It was good times. Mainland japan vs. Okinawa is like ying and yang. It was a crazy experience yet fun. I don't remember the last time i felt so alive yet so dead at the same time. haha. It was nice to get away from Oki-traz but we walked till our legs gave out.

March 15-31st, my two best friends came to visit. They stayed for 2.5 weeks. Probably too much estrogen for Gilbert to handle but he was such a sweet heart about it and didn't complain once. I did two beach photo shoots with my girls so i will post those pictures up. All other pictures from the trip are posted on facebook by Amy or Suzy since i didn't take the camera out except for those two occasions. If you guys want to read every last detail you can check out suzy's blog http://suzyfahmy.tumblr.com/. Suzy is one of the most interesting and hilarious writers i know and i insist you guys read at least one entry.

Kathleen wanted to do something fun before the new year, so we went to Cape Hedo. It was a nice girls day out. Well the weather was shitty, but it was fun to just hang out without any men...so we blasted some taylor swift and colbie caillat...and yes some justin beiber. Sooo sorry for the late update. Went to the Naha tug of war a couple of weeks ago...early october i believe. Another Gilbertless event since he was in Texas for training. This was the last year so i figured i'd go. I had high hopes and i shouldn't have because i hate being around a big ass crowd. So we got there around noon and the event was gonna start at 3. We stood around for almost an hour holding a piece of the rope we were supposed to tug and they didn't even connect the two big ropes yet...They probably didn't start officially pulling the rope until 4pm or later. Drunk ass Americans also ruined the festivity by throwing up all over the place. There were children and old people trying to pull the ropes next to us and was nearly trampled. We left early empty handed without the piece of rope. Buy hey, at least i got some pictures. The pictures are not great but at least i got some.

Been lazy and just enjoying our time together. Instead of going out we have been doing some more cooking! i am level 15 chef now. hahahha. Baked some banana bread since the humidity here is crazy and the shelf life of a banana is like 2 days...

Hello everyone! So Gilbert came back on Friday August 13. It's been a long 6 months and he made it home safe. I am so happy. Just wanted to thank all my wonderful family and friends who have been there for me through these past months. I don't know what i would of done without you guys. It's been a pretty good couple of days. Gonna try to spice the blog up with a variety of pictures since i put myself to sleep updating this thing. The adventures begin today since we have officially got an upgraded lens for the camera!!

Happy birthday Gilbert (1 month late). I recycled a gift bag since i was too cheap to buy another one. Tones down the testosterone a bit.

Mom's visit Feb 2010-July 2010

Mom came for a visit for a few months. Definately made this deployment so much less stressful. Soooo much happened when she was here. There was a 7.0 Earthquake and a tsunami warning that scared the crap out of me. Mom cooked lunch for me everyday like i was a kid again which was so nice. I guess a lot of people would find that embarrassing...but i must say my health is back to normal since i ate such balanced meals. I made a recipe book while she was here and have been trying to cook which is a big step for me as a housewife! can't wait till gilbert comes back to see the improvement. Hello lovely people. So my mother and i have been going to the beach a lot. She truly loves the beach...i inherited the beach loving gene from her. haha. Well here are some pictures. The days have been really clearing up. I discovered that mom loves to collect shells....it's actually a weird obsession she has. She even brought home a couple of hermit crabs that are walking around freely in the house. I hope i don't step on any of them. So my birthday was pretty mellow and quiet this year, just how i like it. My mom and i BBQ'd some steaks and celebrated at home. I have been learning how to cook during my unemployment period so i'm not completely useless. Perhaps the husband will thank me later once he sees hot non-microwaved food on the table every night. hehe. Well here are some pictures.

I am backkkkkk! so it's been a while since i last updated....Sooo Gilbert deployed last month and a week after he deployed, my lovely friends took me out to the Nago cherry blossom festival. Compared to the one is San Francisco, i must say there were actually cherry blossoms all around and good food. I am a little sad that Gilbert didn't get to see the cherry blossoms this year...but there is always next year =) So here are some pictures:

Linkin park concert back in August. My first concert...ahaha and i thought it was awesome and pretty damn fun. I went with a good bunch of people. Gilbert should of gone but he wasn't that interested in going. According to my friends, they said the tickets were overpriced and they didn't handle the whole section thing well. Aside from all that bullshit, they were AWESOME live. I would go again when i get back in the states. Prob with rob or something! Sorry for the shitty pictures:

WOW. I havn't been keeping up with the updates like i said i would. Still havn't finished updating on Elise's visit and that was months ago. haha. oh well. We went to the castle ruins on her 9th day here. First castle ruins i been to and it was pretty damn cool and the view was spectacular! here are some pictures:

Elise's visit-Bios on the hill

hey everyone! So here is the bios on the hill post. It took us forever to find this place...we were actually supposed to go here on day four or some shit but i got us so lost that we ended up going to the aquarium. Second time around we kind of stumbled upon it...almost got lost again but we saw signs for it. This post is for all the orchid lovers out there. I suppose my mom will enjoy this one, and i will prob take her here when she gets here next year. Gilbert had work so it was just me and Elise again. haha.

Elise's visit-Sunabe gyros and Cocok's

hey everyone. So getting the updates done on a regular basis. I think this was day 6 or something. I surprised Elise with a birthday pampering. We went to the sea wall and got gyros for lunch and then got our nails did. Elise got her toes done and i got my nails did because i can't imagine anyone on this planet trying to touch my toes. I get ticklish just thinking about it. We also went to the pineapple farm later on that day but i decided not to post those pictures since that's the only pictures i ever post....aquarium, pineapple farm and neo park. I don't want to bore the readers with stuff they already seen. So here are some pictures:

Elise's visit-Southeast botanical gardens

Helloooo wonderful people! so i am almost caught up with my entries....7 more till i am caught up. So i think this was like day 4..we went to the southeast botanical garden. Overall i thought this place was very pretty, but the bad part about it was you had to watch where you were going cause there were banana spiders in every corner which irked me. At one point, elise had to walk with me and hold my hand cause i was too scared to walk under them...they hang from tree to tree..pretty disgusting. Well anyways, here are some pictures from her camera since i forgot mine this day! Epic fail!

Elise's visit-Loisir hotel and kokusai street

WOW! it's been sooo long since i updated and i havn't even finished the entries for Elise's visit. Been busy with work and just being lazy....which is why this thing has been neglected. If i can recall, we went to this hotel called Loisir on Elise's third day here. Her mom gave her money to treat us to the buffet there. It was awesooome, and since we got there kind of late (near the end of the buffet) we got half off and we still ate like heifers. So here are a few pictures we took:

We didn't really take pictures of the buffet food, but we tried pretty much all the cool desert things they had.

Elise's stay in okinawa part 1

So Elise came for a visit for her birthday! it was really nice to have my best friend here a while and catch up like old times. She arrived at the Naha airport on the 16th at 9pm. We had lawsons and called it a night since she was tired. The next day i took her to american village and we just shopped around. On saturday, we had a bbq at the fleetwood's and then headed to the flea market. Went on the ferris wheel and saw this dude throw flaming sticks around afterwards.

I tried to post videos but it wouldn't let me. Fail. oh well! check out Elise's blog for the videos. I am going to post botanical garden photos on the next one.
